About the study area and Cornwall Morphology and Drawing Centre Web Archive:

The book, printed matter and web archive study area presents an unconventional exhibition format that aims to stimulate creative thinking around printed and archival material and artistic practice. This part of the exhibition uncovers a selection of Anderson’s artists books, reference library and sources of inspiration. On display in two vitrines are specimens from the Ulster Museum, selected and curated by Anderson in relation to the individual Isomorphology art works.

These sections weave together diverse areas of interest including the natural science, philosophy, mathematics and art historical genres including the Bauhaus period. The reference library selected by the artist features an equally extensive breath ranging from classic works of literature and science by D’Arcy Thompson and Goethe to seminal philosophical texts from Foucault, Dupré and Rancière. Scientific texts also feature, namely ‘The Metamorphosis of Plants’ and ‘Evolution without Selection’ from which the neighbouring exhibition draws influence. The reference library and archive is presented on a study-style table to offer the viewer an accessible space in which to explore and discover the work of the artist.
